I believe our best days are ahead of us, but we’ve got work to do.

Infrastructure

In 2017, the General Assembly passed historic legislation to reverse a decades-long trend of inadequately prioritizing infrastructure. There’s still more work to do. The state legislature should continue to fight to fix South Carolina’s roads and bridges. The SC Department of Transportation must deliver on the investment South Carolinians are making.

Veterans

South Carolina is considered to be one of the most military-friendly states in the country. The state legislature must fight to ensure that South Carolina continues to be a place for the military to call home. Those who answer the call to serve are willing to pay the ultimate sacrifice and deserve our utmost respect. South Carolina should remain a magnet for all active military, service members, and veterans.

Public Safety

It is imperative to have voices for public safety in the legislature. Whenever disasters strike, first responders answer the call. Police officers run towards chaos, firemen perform rescue after rescue, and EMS teams save lives. They ensure that South Carolina is ready for the unexpected, and they deserve legislators that will champion their cause.

Accountability

Situations such as the failed VC Summer Nuclear project prove that the government of South Carolina is not immune to corruption and misconduct. The fight for reform begins in the House, and that requires lawmakers who are willing to take steps to create real ethics reforms. The rule of law should apply to everyone equally. South Carolinians must be able to hold their government officials accountable, and the legislature needs to take an active role in ensuring the pathways to do so are created.

Transparency

Government is not meant to take place behind closed doors. South Carolinians should never be left out of the loop, especially when it comes to legislation that could affect their livelihood. The state legislature must take action to ensure that the government maintains an open and honest relationship with the citizens of South Carolina.

Opportunity

South Carolinians deserve a government that works for them. That means cutting out unnecessary red tape, lowering taxes, and creating an environment where individuals and private businesses are able to thrive. The government should not act as a barrier to the pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness.
